Yonga Arts is a multidisciplinary art studio founded by Ghanaian artist Oscar Korbla Mawuli Awuku,

known for his bold use of color, body art, and storytelling that reclaims and reimagines African identity. Rooted in cultural sustainability and decolonial practices, Yonga Arts creates visual narratives that celebrate Black identity, women’s empowerment, and ancestral wisdom.

Our work fuses fine art photography, painting, performance, and design, often using the body as a living canvas adorned with intricate motifs inspired by Adinkra symbols and original patterns coined as Anansinisim. These patterns echo the complexity of spider webs and the African folktale figure Anansi, channeling the interconnectedness of wisdom, tradition, and resistance.

At Yonga Arts, we believe art is a tool for transformation. Whether through striking imagery, immersive exhibitions, or collaborative performances, our mission is to challenge perception, spark dialogue, and preserve the cultural threads that bind us. From local communities in Ghana to global audiences, we continue to share stories that matter.

Join us in celebrating the beauty, strength, and spirituality of African heritage, visibly, powerfully, and unapologetically.
